Tropical storm Hermine warning

The Shelton Police and Emergency Management Departments are monitoring tropical storm Hermine. A tropical storm warning has now been issued for the area. Beginning Sunday, rainfall amounts between a half to one and-a-half inches are expected to fall.

The primary hazard with this storm will be strong winds. On Sunday morning, Be prepared to sustain a wind increase from 20 miles an hour to 40 miles per hour in the afternoon and through the night. Wind gusts of 45 to 55 miles per hour are expected.

Residents are asked to remove any items from their property that may become airborne through the wind. Be prepared for possible local power outages.
