The Shelton High girls volleyball team posted a 12-6 regular-season record in 2015, qualifying for the Class LL state tournament before bowing out to Staples High of Westport in the first round.
Coach LeAnne Bianchine’s squad this year will be anchored by senior co-captains Mackenzie Bures and Samantha Stevens.
“They are strong, intelligent and dedicated leaders,” Bianchine said.
A strong senior class is also back, with middle hitter Casey O’Connor joining setter Grace Tokarski and defensive specialist Amity Haluschak.
Right side/middle hitter Natalie Ferris, Jessica Orazetti and Carly Nichols finish off the seasoned senior group.
The Kreitler twins, juniors Danielle and Meghan, complete the varsity roster.
Playing in a realigned Southern Connecticut Conference Housatonic Division, which now includes Amity, East Haven, Wilbur Cross and Lyman Hall of Wallingford, the goal remains the same for the Gaelettes.
“Our goals are to bring home some banners, while continuing our tradition of Gael pride” Bianchine said. “These girls are family.”
Shelton opens its season on Friday night at Stamford High at 6 p.m.
