On Thursday, Sept. 22, from 5 to 6 p.m. alumni of Housatonic Community College are invited to attend an informal gathering prior to the opening reception of the exhibition, Body & Soul, at the Burt Chernow Galleries of the HMA.
The exhibition features prints, paintings and sculpture from the Ben Ortiz and Victor P. Torchia, Jr. collection. Ben Ortiz is an honorary HCC alumnus in Fine Arts and was a curator the HMA during the ’80s and ’90s. He was responsible for many exhibitions at the college featuring Latin artists and a series of “Paper Vision” exhibits. The Body & Soul exhibition has been organized by Ortiz and is presented in honor of his deceased younger brother, John Eloy Ortiz.
Alumni are invited to the special gathering and exhibition opening which will recognize Ortiz’ contributions to the arts and education in the greater Bridgeport area.
The Housatonic Alumni Association is an organization open to all those who have attended HCC at any time. The Association strives to connect and engage with alumni by advising them of activities and developments at the college, by providing opportunities to form beneficial networks, and by creating the means to assist the college to maintain its vital presence in the Greater Bridgeport area.
HCC alumni are asked to respond to Emma Tecun, HCC Alumni Coordinator, 203-332-8507.
