The Shelton High girls’ volleyball team’s run in the Southern Connecticut Conference playoffs came to an end on Thursday night, as the No. 3 seed Gaelettes lost to No. 2 Cheshire, 3-1, in the Rams’ gym.
After losing the first game 25-23, Shelton rallied for a second-set 25-14 win but lost games three (25-23) and four (25-22) despite having leads in both games.
It was the third time this season that Shelton (17-6), has lost to the Rams (17-3), who will be making their 17th SCC finals appearance on Saturday night.
Cheshire has won 11 SCC titles since 1994 under coach Sue Bavone.
Shelton was led by Mackenzie Bures and Samantha Stevens. Each had 12 kills.
Bures also had seven digs.
Setter Grace Tokarski had 27 assists.
Cheshire was paced by a 17-kill night from Molly Michaud.
