As the holiday season quickly approaches, the Conti building has opened up its doors once again to host Celebrate Shelton’s Handmade Markets.
This past weekend Celebrate Shelton held its first Handmade Market of the season in order to give local vendors a chance to promote their products.
Co-founder of Celebrate Shelton Nicole Heriot-Mikula said the city-wide initiative that focuses on small businesses and the community is already planning out their 2017 calendar of events. Following Celebrate Shelton’s next November event, which is Small Business Saturday on the 26 and features only Conti building shops, the staff will prepare for a busy month of December.
“We’re just getting started here in November, we’re going to do three weekends next month,” said Heriot-Mikula. “We will have handmade markets on Dec. 3,10, and 17 which means more opportunities for residents to shop local and even find gifts to give for the holidays. There’s a special connection when buying something from a local vendor, that story that comes back to how it was created. You can’t beat it. It also helps our community to continue to thrive.”
The markets which are open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., feature live music, food, and a variety of vendors that offer items such as: jewelry, books, hoola-hoops, carved wooden items, all natural body products, art, clothing, and more.
