Otto F. Schilkowski Jr., 80, certified training officer for the Shelton Police Department, first member of the Bomb Squad, past captain of the Echo Hose Hook and Ladder Company, head of security for the Shelton School System, husband of Helen (Doerrer) Schilkowski, died Dec. 9, at Griffin Hospital.
Born in Derby on Aug. 31, 1936, son of the late Otto F. and Mary (Coppola) Schilkowski; U.S. Navy Reserves veteran.
Survived by daughter, Ruth Elizabeth Schilkowski and her husband, Gary Swatt, four grandchildren, five siblings, MaryLou Klimovich, John “Buzz” Schilkowski, Elizabeth Ann Domizio, Helene Schilkowski, and James “Buzzy” Schilkowski and his wife, Cynthia, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours: Tuesday, Dec. 13, 3-7 p.m., Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. Services: Wednesday, 10 a.m., St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
