Resident struck and killed near trail on Shelton Avenue

Shelton Police responded to a call of a Shelton man being struck  by a vehicle in the area of Shelton Ave. on Friday, Dec. 9 just after 5 p.m.

Police arrived to the entrance to the hiking trails near Shelton Ave. where they discovered the victim, Ronald Richard, 48, of Shelton lying in the road.

According to a statement from Shelton Police, their initial investigation revealed that Christopher Goldspink, 45, of Shelton was traveling south on Meadow Street and struck Richard as he was crossing the street.

Richard was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the accident. No enforcement action has been taken at this time. Any witnesses or persons with additional information are asked to contact the Shelton Police Department Traffic Division at (203) 924-1544.
