Shelton takes fifth at SCC meet

Shelton High placed fifth at the Southern Connecticut Conference Girls Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven on Friday.
Hillhouse of New Haven won the team title, followed by Amity Regional, Cheshire, Daniel Hand of Madison and Shelton.
Joelle Schumacher was second in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:09.85.
Marlee Peterson was third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.00, and the sophomore tied for ninth in the high jump (4-6) and was 12th in the long jump (14-8.50).
Laurel Bailey was third in the pole vault at 8-6.
Sammie Bailey was fourth in the shot put (34-04.75), two-plus feet better than her seed.
Emily McNeil was fourth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:29.80, five reconds better than her seed time.
A senior, McNeil was fifth in the 3200-meter run in 12:04.35.
Emma Froberg, Shannon Langdon, Casey Douglas and Schumacher were fifth in the 4×800 relay (10:18.67).
Kylie English, Langdon, Froberg and Schumacher were sixth in the 4×400 relay (4:24.19).
Langdon placed seventh in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:48.58.
Courtney Rodrigues was eighth in the 1600 (5:47.10) and 12th in the 3200 (12:50.02).
Emily Tarini tied for ninth in the high jump (4-6).
Danielle Letendre, Savannah Ferrante, Juliane Niedzwiecki and Douglas took ninth in the 1600 sprint medley (4:49.75).
Shealynn Rossetti took 10th in the shot put (29-06-.50), four-plus feet better than her seed.
Virginia Lewis was 15th in the 3200 (13:18.05).
