West Haven man charged with gas station robbery

A West Haven man was charged today with the November robbery of Citgo Gas Station on River Road.

Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said Shelton Police served an arrest warrant to Anthony Simons, 44, at Derby Superior Court today. Simons is charged with first-degree robbery and six-degree larceny.

Around 9:30 p.m. Nov. 30, a white male entered the 442 River Road gas station and made a purchase, police said. The male leaned over the counter and allegedly displayed a knife, demanding money. The suspect later left and no one was injured.

The arrest stems from an investigation with by the detective bureau, working with other area detectives.

Simons was being held on $100,000 bond and will be arraigned Wednesday.
