Second Round Matchups To Watch Wednesday
No. 12 Cheshire at No. 5 Bristol Central, 4 p.m. (Class LL): These two teams have received votes in the Top 10 Poll in recent weeks so this should be a good one between members of two of the deepest conferences in the state.
No. 14 Trumbull at No. 4 Glastonbury, 4:30 p.m. (Class LL): Glastonbury and Trumbull is a CCC vs FCIAC battle. Glastonbury was just bounced out of the Top 10 and after a disappointing conference tournament will surely be hungry.
No. 10 Ledyard at No. 7 Waterford, 4 p.m. (Class L): These two familiar opponents just met in the ECC DI championship, which Waterford won 7-2.
No. 14 Fitch at No. 3 Guilford, 4 p.m. (Class L): Guilford finished the regular season on a 16-game winning streak and is the favorite, but Fitch has played up with competition all season. With one run losses to Masuk, Waterford and Glastonbury and a late-season win over Waterford, this should be a good one.
No. 12 Coginchaug at No. 5 Old Lyme, 4 p.m. (Class S): The defending champ Coginchaug will face conference opponent Old Lyme in the second round. Old Lyme won both regular season matchups, 5-3 and 4-3.
