Softball: Top performances from CIAC semifinals and championships

Here are the top performances from the semifinals and finals of the CIAC softball tournaments:

Lindsey Buinauskas, Oxford: The sophomore homered twice and drove in four runs in Oxford’s 8-2 Class M semifinal victory over Seymour. She also had one of Oxford’s two hits in the championship against Woodland.

Kylie Bulinski, Woodland: The left-handed senior catcher went 4-for-4 in the Class M championship game with a home run and two RBIs as Woodland won its first state title with a 4-0 victory over Oxford. She also went 2-for-3 in the semifinals.

Maddie Burrows, Waterford: In the Class L semifinals against Avon, Burrows threw a no-hitter, allowing just two walks while striking out nine in the 8-0 win.

Kat Gallant, Masuk: The senior led Masuk to its fourth straight Class L title, throwing a complete game shutout in both the championship and semifinal round. She only allowed one run in four tournament games and struck out 20 batters in 14 innings over the final two games.

Lily Kenney, Cromwell: Kenney threw a complete game shutout in the Class S championship game to defeat North Branford 3-0. She allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out 11 batters to claim Cromwell’s first state title. She only allowed one run in four tournament games.

Natalie Lieto, Masuk: The sophomore center fielder hit a leadoff home run in the Class L championship game in a 4-0 victory over Waterford.

Sam Rogers, Southington: The shortstop homered in both the Class LL semifinals and the championship game to lead Southington to its third straight state title. She drove in three runs in the championship.

Malena Signorello, Cromwell: The first basemen kicked off the scoring in the Class S championship game with a two-run home run to give her team the lead in what would eventually prove to be a 3-0 victory.

Sam Sosnovich, Woodland: Sosnovich pitched a complete game shutout in Woodland’s 4-0 Class M championship victory over Oxford. She allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out 13 batters. She also homered in the 5-2 semifinal victory over Watertown.

Sophia Toresso, Bristol Central: The Bristol Central ace threw a complete game in the Class LL semifinal 4-1 victory over Danbury. She allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk while striking out 12 batters.
