It will be No. 1 vs. No. 2 when Xavier and Danbury clash on Friday, as the two teams once again held the top two spots in the latest Connecticut Wrestling Online poll.

Xavier, which has held the No. 1 position for the past four weeks, will take on No. 2 Danbury at 5 p.m., Friday, in Danbury. Xavier won last year’s meeting 44-19 in Middletown.

Xavier received 14 of the 17 first-place votes, with Danbury taking two, and No. 3 New Milford earning one.

New Milford won the Gary Tiger Ridgefield Challenge with two weight class champions and 11 medalists.

Only one team joined the top 10 this week, with Trumbull leaping in at No. 8 following the Eagles’ victory in the Connecticut Challenge in Southington.

East Hartford and Warde flip-flopped, with East Hartford moving to No. 5 and Warde to No. 6. Only 24 points separate the two teams.
