Most shoreline state parks closed to new visitors
With sunny skies and temperatures in the 80s, more people have headed to shoreline state parks on Thursday.
There are so many people that most shoreline state parks reached parking capacity by 1 p.m.
The following state parks are now closed to new visitors:
Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison,
Sherwood Island State Park in Westport,
and Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme.
The state Department of Environmental Protection has limited parking at state parks to reduce crowds because of ther coronavirus pandemic. It has also banned swimming at inland state parks and established new rules for social distancing.
