DEEP: Officials identify man pulled from Long Meadow Pond as Prospect resident

MIDDLEBURY — A Prospect man has been identified as the missing kayaker whose body was recovered from Long Meadow Pond on Sunday morning.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on Monday identified him as 26-year-old Brian Saucier.

Personnel from DEEP and several area fire department started searching Long Meadow Pond on Saturday after a report of an overturned kayak.

Officials suspended the search around 9 p.m. Saturday. Rescue operations resumed Sunday morning. Fire crews recovered Saucier’s body around 10 a.m. Sunday.
