Pearland and League City are among the best cities for young families to buy a house, according to a new nationwide ranking.
Pearland comes in at No. 4 in the United States, and League City earned the No. 12 spot in a study conducted by the consumer research website ValuePenguin .
BEST STATE? Texas metros win big in 'America's best cities' ranking
The study considered 318 cities across the United States with 100,000 or more people, ranking them based on home affordability, a city's economic strength, quality of education, crime rates and the services available in each city.
Texas cities in general performed well compared to others across the South, the study shows.
"In the South, suburban cities in Texas dominated the list of top places for young families to consider settling down," ValuePenguin states.
Four of the top five Southern cities are from Texas. The regional ranking includes Frisco, Pearland, Sandy Springs, Ga., League City and McKinney.
Other Houston-area cities also were ranked. See how each Texas city ranked among the top 150 in the photos above.
