Shelton could be battered by persistent rain and winds this afternoon, and possibly even a thunderstorm.
In addition, heavy fog could be a problem in the afternoon.
As of 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, it is 36 degrees in Shelton but the temperature will rise quickly in the coming hours, with an expected daytime high of 48 degrees today.
A thunderstorm is possible after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
‘Locally dense’ fog expected
The NWS has issued a Special Weather Statement that warns of fog until 3:30 p.m. in the region.
The fog may be “locally dense,” including in river valley locations.
“Be on the lookout for rapidly changing visibility,” said the NWS. “When encountering fog, slow down [and] use your low-beam headlights.”
Saturday to be very nice
There is some good news in the forecast, however.
Saturday is looking like an exceptionally nice day in Shelton. It should sunny with a high of 47 degrees, the NWS said.
Sunday will be warm but cloudy, with a slight chance of rain in the afternoon.
The next chance for snow in Shelton is on Wednesday.
