Shelton residents waited for the predicted snow to fall on Wednesday, but for the most part it never came. Instead, heavy rain — combined with some sleet and a few snowflakes here and there — fell during the day and early evening in most parts of the city.
Significant snow accumulation was minimal south of Interstate 84 in Connecticut, but the story was different in the northern part of the state. More than a half foot fell in northern Litchfield County, and many towns off Route 8 north of Waterbury received plenty of snow.
Still, the storm on the day before Thanksgiving — often trumpeted as perhaps the busiest travel day of the year — was essentially a bust in Shelton
