Chipping away in Shelton
Work continues on a new retail building and parking lot on River Road (Route 110) in Shelton, including removal of some surrounding ledge. Shown above is a machine at work last week, chipping away at the rock on the southern side of the development. (Photos by Brad Durrell)
Being constructed on the property is a 5,800-square-foot structure that will house a handful of retail outlets, plus a parking lot. The site is across the street from the Sports Center of Connecticut.
The project became somewhat controversial after ledge removal on the northern side went farther than had been approved, leading to some later adjustments in the zoning site plan.
