SHELTON — Music will once again fill the downtown air this summer.

Celebrate Shelton will be holding its eighth annual Downtown Sounds Summer Concerts at the Veterans Memorial Park on Fridays — July 22, July 29 and Aug. 5 — from 5 to 9 p.m.

“We are thrilled to bring families together for the summer concert series again,” said Jimmy Tickey, co-creator of Celebrate Shelton.

“Celebrate Shelton was created out of the desire to be a positive force in the revitalization of Downtown Shelton and because we believe in the power of community,” added Nicole Heriot-Mikula, co-creator of Celebrate Shelton. “We are committed to playing a critical role in that effort. We are so excited for this year’s lineup and concert series.”

Gates open at 5 p.m., and Kids Hour will follow. At 6 p.m., the live music begins.

This year’s musical lineup includes Booyah and Nardy Boy on July 22; Will Evans & Barefoot Truth Reunion and Ella Sera on July 29; Roots of Creation and Thabisa on Aug. 5.

As in the past, Celebrate Shelton’s community partner for Downtown Sounds is the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley. The concerts are free to attend, though there is a suggested donation of $5 to sustain Celebrate Shelton's efforts in the community.

“We cannot thank Celebrate Shelton enough for their long-standing significant financial support for our Valley's youth,” said Shaye Roscoe, Chief Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley."

This event is sponsored by Liberty Bank, City of Shelton, Tuttle Insurance, RD Scinto, Valley Community Foundation, Really Good Stuff, Cedar Village at Carroll's, Griffin Health, Carey & Guarrera Realty, Apple Rehab, Prestige Builders, Peralta Design, Luxy, Helpful Home Buyers, Hocon Gas, OEM Controls, Benchmark Senior Living, People's United Bank, Curtiss Ryan Honda, D'Addario of Shelton, Shelton Gift Boutique and Caloroso.
