Conservation Commission raises wetlands concerns on Shelton Cove project

The Conservation Commission is claiming Toll Brothers, the developer of the 36-townhouse-unit Shelton Cove on River Road (Route 110), has encroached on the wetlands buffer area with tree cutting and clearing during construction.

Commission members have asked wetlands officials to take action to halt the alleged violations and require restoration. Three waterways are on, or near, the 12.4-acre site — the Housatonic River, Ivy Brook and Butternut Hollow Brook.

“The violations are just shocking,” said Conservation Commission Chairman Tom Harbinson.
