SHELTON — Firefighters doused a car fire in the Walmart parking lot Thursday on Bridgeport Avenue.

Deputy Fire Chief Paul Wilson said companies 1 and 4 responded to the reported vehicle fire at 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, Wilson said crews found a sedan with an engine compartment fire.

“Crews quickly extinguished the fire under the command of Assistant Chief Mike Plavcan,” Wilson said, adding that no other vehicles were parked near the burning car.
