Firewood available, residents can bring tree limbs, brush to Compost Site
Firewood is available at the Dog Park, corner of Nells Rock Road and Shelton Ave (Rt. 108) for Residents use, according to the Public Works Department.
The Compost site next to Elizabeth Shelton School is accepting — from residents only — leaves,tree limbs and brush debris resulting from Storm Sandy, Monday-Friday, from 7AM to 2PM and Saturdays, 7 a.m to noon through December 8.
Storm debris from private property can also be brought by residents only to the Shelton Transfer Station, located at 866 River Road, Monday-Saturday, 7AM to 1:30PM.
City crews will only be picking up storm debris within the City right of way.
Residents may call the Highways and Bridges Department at 203-924-9277 with any questions.
About 35% of the city is still without power.
Food, water and ice are available at Echo Hose Ambulance, 100 Meadow St. The Community Center, 41 Church St., is available for those still without power. Residents can take showers and charge phones or computers.
