Flags in CT return to full staff at sunset today

Flags in Connecticut should return to full-staff at sunset today, Thursday, Nov. 20, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has announced.

Flags have been flying at half-staff in honor of state Judge John T. Downey, who died on early Monday. He will be laid to rest on Thursday in Wallingford.

Downey was held as a captive for more than two decades by China from the early 1950s to early 1970s. His CIA plane was shot down while flying over China. His imprisonment in the then-U.S. Cold War foe makes him the longest held captive in American history.
