Flood Warning remains in effect on the Housatonic River in Shelton into Wednesday

A Flood Warning remains in effect for the Housatonic River in Fairfield and New Haven counties through the morning of Wednesday, April 2.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said the river should peak at near 11.8 feet at the Stevenson Dam on late Monday night, with flood stage being 11 feet.

The stage at the dam, located on the Monroe/Oxford border a few miles north of Shelton, was 11.7 feet as of 4 p.m. on Monday, the NWS said.

“At 11.5 feet, water reaches the Maples area of Shelton,” said the NWS, referring to the riverfront residential community along the Housatonic River near Indian Well State Park.

“Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast,” according to the NWS.
