Food store chain plans Shelton hiring fair
ALDI grocery store will hold a job fair for its establishments in Waterbury and Middletown, and soon-to-open location in Derby, on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Shelton.
Job fair hours on Wednesday are 7 a.m.-noon and 1-7 p.m. The hotel is at 25 Old Stratford Road, Shelton.
The German-owned food store chain is known for offering wages higher than the industry standard. It is looking to fill positions for 40 store associates and shift managers.
The job fair is open to all local residents seeking employment opportunities.
Pay is $12.25 to $16.50 per hour
According to an ALDI press release, the company pays store associates $12.25 per hour, and shift managers $16.50 per hour.
To apply, people must be 18 years or older; have a high school diploma or GED; be available to work anytime from 6 a.m.-1 p.m. on all days of the week; and be able to lift 45 pounds.
Past retail is experience preferred. The company conducts drug screening and background checks on possible employees. Staff working at least 20 hours a week receive full health insurance, dental coverage and 401(k).
