Former Red Sox player to appear at local event

A former Boston Red Sox player will be the featured speaker at the Bridgeport Bluefish’s Hot Stove Banquet on Tuesday, Jan. 27 from 6-9 p.m. at the Fairfield Theatre Company Stage One venue in Fairfield.

Trot Nixon was an outfielder with the Red Sox from 1996 to 2006, and a member of the 2004 World Series championship team.

Trot and other members of a guest panel, who will be announced at a later date, will participate in an interactive discussion at the event. Guests then will be able to participate in a Q&A session with the panel members.

Bluefish general manager Jamie Toole said the banquet will “offer our fans a unique look inside the baseball industry through the eyes of a veteran former Major Leaguer such as Trot Nixon.”

Played 12 years in the majors

Nixon played 12 years in Major League Baseball outfielder, including a decade in Boston as well as stints with the Cleveland Indians and New York Mets.

During his career, Trot compiled a .274 batting average with 137 home runs, 555 runs batted in, and 579 runs scored over the course of 1,092 games played.
