UPDATE: An online fund-raising page set up to assist Kristjan Ndoj's family has far surpassed its original goal and now has generated more than $22,000 in donations.

As of 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 23, the page had taken in $22,685 since being started on Tuesday. The original fund-raising goal was $5,000.

One prominent Shelton businessman donated $1,000 to the cause of assisting the family.

On Thursday, Kristjan Ndoj died in the hospital from his injuries. The online fund-raising effort began when he was still in the hospital battling for his life.

"Our deepest condolences to the Ndoj family on the untimely death of Kristjan," Violet Thaqi Wills, who began the fund-raising effort, wrote after learning of the teenager's passing. "Words cannot express how sad this community is. Praying that the police will find the person who did this to your boy."
