GRAND OPENING: Shelton business woman opens Italian restaurant
The co-owner of a limousine business in Shelton has opened a restaurant in Monroe.
Marina DeCarli has opened Marina's Pizza & Trattoria at 230 Roosevelt Drive (Route 34). DeCarli also is a co-owner of Bocchino Limousine in Shelton.
She said she learned how to produce “authentic Italian dishes” by cooking alongside her “nonna lilia,” or grandma. DeCarli studied pastry art at the Connecticut Culinary Institute.
Her goal is to “share her family's culinary view with the community,” according to publicity material.
Some of the specialties at Marina's Pizza & Trattoria are Roman-style rice croquettes, made with risotto in a meat sauce, stuffed with mozzarella and fried; chicken parmigiana; and tiramisu.
The casual, family style restaurant offers eat in, take out, delivery service and catering.
