Himes plans Shelton meeting with public at City Hall

Shelton residents will have a chance to ask questions of U.S. Rep. Jim Himes at a town hall-style meeting Wednesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. in the Shelton City Hall auditorium, 54 Hill St., Shelton.

Himes represents the Fourth Congressional District, which covers most of the city. He is a third-term Democrat from Greenwich.

“As Congress deliberates how to get more Americans back to work, secure a sustainable energy future, and ensure Americans' privacy while protecting our national security, I want to hear your thoughts and ideas on these and the other important issues facing our nation,” Himes said.

Q & A session with the public

The meetings usually begin with a short presentation by Himes, followed by question-and-answer session with the audience. They are open to the public.

Himes is expected to seek re-election this fall. He also will hold upcoming town hall meetings March 20 at Norwalk Community College, and March 22 at the University of Connecticut’s Stamford campus.

The Fourth Congressional District includes most of Fairfield County. A small part of Shelton is in the Third Congressional District, represented by Democrat Rosa DeLauro.
