Hit and run accident on Coram Ave. leads to arrest

A Shelton man was arrested on Monday following an accident on Coram Avenue at Myrtle Street.

According to police, at 10:15 p.m. on Aug. 20, police responded to the call of truck crashed into a utility pole. The driver had to be extricated from the truck, and was taken to the hospital.

Officers found the front bumper of a Mazda on the scene. Based on investigation, the truck was traveling north on Coram Avenue, and was struck by a Mazda traveling west on Myrtle Street. The impact caused the truck to hit and break the utility pole, police said.

Officers located the driver of the Mazda, who fled the scene. The driver, Scott Condon, 25, of Shelton, was charged with second degree assault with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, evading responsibility and failure to obey a stop sign.

Condon was released on a $2,500 and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 4.

The driver of the truck, Mark Floberg, 51, of Shelton, is still in intensive care in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Coram Avenue between Kneen Street and Myrtle Street is still closed while crews repair the utility pole.
