Mayor Mark Lauretti indicated during an earlier interview on the Sharon Scanlon case that he would not be surprised if a guilty plea is how the case ended. “She doesn’t really have a choice,” he said.

“It’s a terrible thing — for the city and for the people who work in City Hall, and a terrible thing for her,” he said.

Scanlon pleaded no contest to forgery and larceny charges today in state Superior court in Milford

Lauretti said it can be hard to be certain whether someone is an honest person or not. “You know, I like and trust most people,” he said.

Lauretti said city officials have had minimal communication with state prosecutors during the legal process.
