Loans available for housing rehabilitation, presentation Jan. 17
Property owners interested in learning more about the City of Shelton’s Housing Rehabilitation Program are invited to attend a presentation on the program, Thursday, Jan. 17, 6:15 to 7 p.m., at Shelton City Hall, room 104.
The City of Shelton has had a long standing housing rehabilitation program, but has been newly awarded $300,000 from HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) and DECD (Department of Economic and Community Development) to fund housing rehabilitation projects for low- and moderate-income Shelton property owners. Funds will be used to assist eligible property owners in making needed health and safety improvements to their homes.
Loans are indefinitely deferred and are repaid only at change of title to home. Allowable project types, among others, include: ADA modifications, roof replacement, energy efficiency upgrades, window replacement, furnace replacements, lead remediation, hazard removal, septic repair or replacement, code compliance, electrical and plumbing upgrades.
Applications will be available at the Powerpoint presentation and are also posted on the city’s website, cityofshelton.org, on the “Community Development” link. Applications will be served on a first come, first serve basis.
