Long Hill resident robbed, beaten

A resident of Long Hill Avenue was attacked and robbed Wednesday morning by men wearing ski masks, according to Shelton Police.

Police were called to the home near Pine Rock Park at around 6:15 a.m. Officers spoke to the 40-year-old male victim, who had visible injuries, police said. The man said he works in the jewelry business, and was leaving his residence to go to work, when he was approached by two men he described as white, wearing ski masks and hoodies.

The Long Hill Avenue resident was carrying two bags containing money and jewelry. One of the attackers told the man to hand over the bags. Then one of the attackers started beating the victim over the head with a handgun. The two men took the bags and fled on foot.

The victim was taken to the hospital, due to the lacerations on his head that he received in the attack.

Based on the initial investigation, it appears that someone involved may have been familiar with the victim, and this was not a random act, police said.
