Longtime Shelton city worker Patrick Tisi fondly remembered
A longtime Shelton City Hall employee is being remembered fondly after dying earlier this week.
Patrick J. Tisi, 66, of Shelton, died on Oct. 13. He was assistant P&Z administrator and a zoning enforcement officer for the city of Shelton, where he had worked for almost three decades. He also was the son of a former mayor of Shelton, Vincent Tisi.
On Tuesday night, the Shelton Planning and Zoning Commission began its meeting with a moment of silence to remember Tisi.
Rick Schultz, the city’s P&Z administrator, had worked with Tisi for 18 years. “Patrick was a lifelong Shelton resident who dedicated himself to public service,” Schultz said.
He said Tisi provided a lot of insight into the city, including through his story telling. “He shared many stories through the years, being a lifelong Shelton resident — as many of us are in this office,” Schultz said.
‘Did his job well’
Mayor Mark Lauretti said Tisi was “a good guy who did his job well.”
Lauretti said he essentially knew Tisi and his other family members since he was young. “He was part of the old Shelton — someone whose family you remember from growing up,” he said.
Patrick’s father Vincent, in addition to being mayor, was a teacher at Shelton High School. Patrick’s late sister, Sharon Tisi Perillo, also was a Shelton High teacher. Patrick Tisi was the uncle of state Rep. Jason Perillo of Shelton.
Tisi previously worked as a part-time police officer for the Oxford Police Department. According to his obituary, he was married with one son and two step-daughters.
Wake and funeral
His wake will take place today, Wednesday, from 4-7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road. The funeral is Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Shelton.
