SEYMOUR — Officials have provided more details about a Saturday crash that sent a Shelton man to the hospital

Shelton emergency medical services took the 52-year-old Shelton resident to Bridgeport Hospital for a “suspected serious injury,” according to a Connecticut State Police.

The Shelton man was heading southbound on Route 8 when he “for unknown reasons ... lost control of his vehicle, veered right off the roadway, where (the vehicle) struck a metal fence and a utility pole,” according to the police accident summary. Police said the weather was clear and the pavement dry at the time of the crash.

The 2008 Volkswagen Jetta “rolled over and came to an uncontrolled final rest on its hood, on Cedar Street in Seymour,” the report said.

Police requests that witnesses — or those with possible videos from dashboard cameras — reach out with information to 203-393-4200 or gina.bavolacco@ct.gov.
