Two detained after person shot on Bridgeport’s Hancock Avenue, police say

BRIDGEPORT — Police have detained two people after a shooting Wednesday evening on Hancock Avenue, according to a city official.

The city’s emergency communications center received a call about a person shot on the 800 block of Hancock Avenue just before 8 p.m.

A person injured by gunfire was taken to Bridgeport Hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown as of 9:15 p.m., according to Scott Appleby, the director of the Bridgeport Office of Emergency Management.

Police have detained two people in connection with the shooting — a man near a bus station and a woman near the train station. Officers also found a firearm near the train station.

The police department is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Bridgeport Police at 203-576-TIPS (8477).
