The severe weather that passed through Shelton at about 4:20 p.m. or so today brought a very quick burst of heavy rain as well as lighting, as shown in this photo by Shelton photographer Marcin Stawiarski.

As of 6 p.m., United Illuminating is not reporting any power outages in Shelton. Some towns north and west of Shelton were not as fortunate, including Seymour and Monroe.

According to Eversource (previously CL&P), the most impacted towns are:

Seymour:  2,595 of 7,548 customers without power.

Ridgefield:  4,999 of 10,763 customers without power.

Newtown:  4,055 of 11,072 customers without power.

Redding:  1,919 of 3,887 customers without power.

Other significantly impacted towns in the area include Monroe, Weston and Middlebury.

A handful of outages are being reported in the UI towns of Trumbull, Easton and Fairfield.
