(Photos by Brad Durrell) The accident occurred near the Exit 13 entrance ramp to Route 8 southbound at about 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8. The accident appears to have badly damaged the hood and front bumper area of the Nissan Sentra, which had been headed north (toward downtown) on Bridgeport Avenue. After the incident, the sedan was parked in the right-hand travel lane and a State Police trooper was at the scene. The State Police cruiser was parked behind the sedan, with its flashing lights on. A white Jeep SUV was parked in front of the damaged vehicle, with its emergency blinkers on, but it was unclear if the Jeep was the other vehicle involved in the accident. No one appeared to have been hurt in the accident. Impact on traffic Vehicles passing by the scene were traveling around the Nissan and the Jeep — as well as a pile of car parts in the road from the accident — by getting in the left travel lane. There are two northbound lanes on Bridgeport Avenue at this point, with the right lane being for cars getting onto Route 8 south. The accident occurred near a traffic signal, where vehicles frequently back up during heavy travel times. Shelton Police Department personnel later arrived at the scene. An accident report was not available from the Shelton police as of Thursday afternoon.
