SHELTON — Landscape art in oils will be the order of the day for the next Shelton Art League meeting.

Jim Laurino who will paint a landscape in oil at 1 p.m. on April 18 during the league’s meeting at the Shelton Community Center, 41 Church St., in the lower level multi-purpose room. The league’s general meeting starts at 11:45 a.m.

Laurino, a Burlington resident, who studied design and color theory at the University of Connecticut, paints evocative outdoor scenes of iconic locales in the Northeast, favoring Western Connecticut and the Finger Lakes region. He has a bold representational style, as shown in his scenes of rivers, lakes, seascapes, woodlands, farms, and historic buildings.

He has paintings in numerous private collections and has won many awards in juried shows.
