Police: Motorcyclist killed, another seriously hurt in 2 Shelton accidents in 1 hour

SHELTON — One person was killed and another rider was seriously hurt in two motorcycle accidents in a span of an hour Friday, police said.

A motorcyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle pulling out of the Wheels Gas Station on Old Stratford Road around 11:20 a.m. Friday, police said.

Police, fire and paramedics were dispatched to the scene and the rider was taken to the hospital, where the person was pronounced dead, police said. The person’s identity was not immediately released. There were no passengers on the bike, police said.

About an hour later, first responders were called to Bridgeport Avenue and Cots Street for a second accident involving a motorcycle and another vehicle around 12:40 p.m.

The rider was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to police. The second motorcycle was also not carrying a passenger.

Police said no arrests have been made and both accidents are under investigation.
