SOUTHINGTON — Police are seeking further information about a Saturday night shooting that sent a man to the hospital with a wound in the leg, according to a news release.

When police got to the scene near Rethal Street about 10:37 p.m. Saturday, neighbors told police that the person who shot the man had already left, and relatives of the injured man were taking him to the hospital, the release read.

Police say they’re searching for a short-haired, 5-foot-7-inch man wearing dark clothes. They say the man allegedly went to a home in the area to see someone who lived there.

“Following a conversation that occurred outside the home, multiple occupants were entering the home and heard a gunshot,” the release read. “The victim was found shortly after, outside, shot in the driveway.”

About nine additional shots were heard while a car — a dark blue Chevy Impala, police say — left the scene, according to the release.

Officials continue to investigate.
