SATURDAY: Help the hungry in Shelton through your letter carrier
Letter carries in Shelton and across the country will be collecting food from postal patrons to help “Stamp Out Hunger” tomorrow.
The letter carriers will collect non-perishable food items that are placed in bags by people’s mailboxes to deliver to a local food bank or pantry on Saturday, May 9.
The kind of items needed are canned meats, canned fish, soups, juice, vegetables, pasta, spaghetti sauce, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, cereal and peanut butter. Items in glass containers and items that have past expiration dates should not be included.

Non-perishable food items should be left by mailboxes before a letter carrier’s usual drop-off time. The collection is organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers in coordination with other agencies, including the U.S. Postal Service.
