A Blizzard Warning went into effect at 1 p.m. today, and major amounts of snow are expected to fall in Shelton during the next 24 to 36 hours.
Snowfall will be the most intense from midnight tonight to about 8 or 9 a.m. Tuesday, when from 2 to 4 inches an hour could fall. Temperatures will remain below freezing so all precipitation will be snow.

Monday afternoon: Periods of snow, with 1 to 3 inches possible; plus increasing winds. As of 2:30 p.m., steady snow is beginning to fall in the city.
Monday at night: Snow will be heavy at times, blowing snow due to strong wind gusts (up to 38 mph); thunder also possible. New snow accumulation of 10 to 16 inches possible.
Tuesday: Snow continues, heavy at times, strong winds, thunder possible. New snow accumulation of 7 to 11 inches possible.
Tuesday at night: Light snow, then begins to taper off, ending at midnight or earlier. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, then becoming sunny, with a high near 25 degrees.
