Snowfall amounts don’t appear to be living up to predictions in Shelton as of 7: 30 a.m. on Tuesday, but it’s still nasty out there.

Snow continues to fall and the wind is constant. The blowing snow is covering roads and makes standing outside quite unpleasant.

It appears 6 to 7 inches of snow have fallen in Shelton, but it’s impossible to tell exact amounts due to the winds.

The blizzard dropped larger amounts in eastern Connecticut and some central parts of the state, with a few places reporting more than a foot.

Government buildings and many businesses are closed today in Shelton and almost everywhere, but it’s likely some stores will open later in the day. There are very few cars on the road at this point.

The snow is expected to continue in the coming hours.
