SHELTON WEATHER: Freezing rain possible this afternoon
Rain is expected to continue to fall this afternoon in Shelton, with a chance it may turn to freezing rain, depending on the temperature.
Freezing rain, sleet and even snow are possible late tonight, with the precipitation expected to end around 3 a.m., according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Temperatures are in the low to mid-30s, but have mostly stayed above freezing during the day in Shelton. It will get colder tonight, with an overnight low of 22 degrees in the city, the NWS said.
Winter Weather Advisory
The NWS has a Winter Weather Advisory in effect through 4 p.m. Monday for northern Fairfield County and much of upstate Connecticut, with potential for freezing rain this afternoon.
Up to 1/10th on an inch of freezing rain could accumulate, the NWS said, although as of 1 p.m. that appears to be more of a factor north of Shelton.
Tuesday in Shelton will be mostly sunny, but cold — with a daytime high of 26 degrees. The overnight low into Wednesday morning will be 12 degrees.
