SHELTON WEATHER: Snow expected in the morning

Shelton is expected to pick up some snow late tonight and Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said the snow could start at 2 a.m. and should last until noon in Shelton. About one inch should accumulate in the city. Winds also will increase, with gusts up to 31 mph.

There also is the chance for snow on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, with Sunday and Monday being the days when it could become a factor.

Some private forecasters are saying up to 3 inches could fall on Sunday and up to 5 inches on Monday, although the NWS is less certain about the Monday precipitation.

Cold returns late Thursday

It also will get cold beginning on late Thursday, with an overnight low of 1 degree in Shelton.

On Friday, the daytime high will be 19 degrees and the nighttime low will be 11 degrees into Saturday morning, the NWS said. The wind chill will make it feel between 10-below and 0 degrees during the day on Friday in Shelton.

Temperatures will moderate over the weekend, being in the high 20s and low 30s during the daytime.
