SHELTON WEATHER: Will it snow here Friday night?
Don’t laugh. It will be cold enough, with a Freeze Warning in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. early Saturday for most of Connecticut, including “interior” parts of Fairfield County such as Shelton.
Temperatures could dip as low as the mid-20s in parts of Shelton, but the current cloudy skies are expected to clear in the course of the night, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The predicted low for Shelton tonight is 30 degrees.
Crops in danger
“The sub-freezing temperatures will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation,” the NWS said.
As of 4 p.m. in Shelton, the temperature is 46 degrees — but it definitely feels much colder due to consistent winds and darkish skies. Not a nice afternoon for a walk — especially without a heavy coat.
As for the weekend, Sunday looks much nice than Saturday. Here’s the NWS forecast for Shelton:
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 58. Consistent winds will make it feel as cold as 25 degrees. Overnight low around 37.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 59 degrees. A slight chance of showers in the afternoon and evening. Nighttime low around 40.
