Saturday: It's time to shave some heads at St. Baldrick's event

So far the Huntington Fire Company has raised just less than $2,000, and still need $8,000 more to meet their goal of what they are donating to the St. Baldrick’s charity.

The St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser will be hosted by the Huntington Fire Company, on Saturday at 2 p.m., at Downtown Danny O’s, 441 Howe Avenue. If you can’t shave your head, there will be opportunities to show support by buying raffle tickets and more.

There are currently three teams, with about 20 shavees registered at this time.

Volunteers, often referred to as “shavees,” get their heads shaved to show solidarity for children undergoing treatment for cancer. People can create private groups and join the fundraiser and compete with other groups in the event for a prize.

Raffle prizes include lunch with a firefighter, two gift cards to plaza restaurant, individual pool membership to community center, a child’s beach basket plus more.
