The search for a missing kayaker in Connecticut resumed on April 20, having previously been suspended due to thick ice on the upstate water body.

Kayaker Patricia Cole, 53, has been missing since early January. She is thought to have been kayaking on West Hill Pond in New Hartford, a town in northwest Connecticut, when she disappeared.

Conducting the search are personnel from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Environmental Conservation (EnCon) police and the State Police dive team, aided by an EnCon search-and-rescue dog.

The search was suspended over the winter due to thick ice on the pond, which has cleared as of late last week. The search will continue throughout the day as long as weather permits.

A small part of the 261-acre West Hill Pond is in the neighboring town of Barkhamsted.
