SHELTON — An ambulance brought people involved in a head-on crash in the city Thursday afternoon to a trauma facility, according to the fire department.

Fire officials were sent to River Road near Hawthorne Avenue around 12:17 p.m. to respond to a head-on crash, according to a post from the Shelton Fire Department.

When the initial fire department unit arrived, the occupants were “conscious and alert but in obvious d[i]stress,” the post read.

The fire department helped EMS responders “with patient removal and provided fluid mitigation,” according to the post.

“Echo Hose Ambulance transported both occupants to a local trauma facility,” the post read.
